At 'Breath and the City,' we are dedicated to creating a safe and inclusive space for people to explore their journeys back to self-love and emotional freedom. Our goal is to dispel the misconception that healing should look a "certain way" and that it requires us to abandon who we are, our personalities, or our culture. Through immersive experiences that blend somatic practices, music, cultural vibes, and events, we aim to build a community and empower individuals to live their most authentic and fulfilling lives.
Maybe you have been working on yourself for a while. Maybe you are feeling stuck in life and don't know where to start or what to do. Or perhaps you simply crave a safe space where you can be vulnerable and have fun.
This is the space for you!
Lissette "Liss" de la Rosa, an Afro-Dominican native of NYC's vibrant Washington Heights currently based in the Bay Area of California. She has spent over 13 years leveraging her psychology and human resources
background to design and implement programs aimed at dismantling educational and mental health barriers for populations historically marginalized by the system.
Lissette has cultivated a profound passion and curiosity for alternative healing practices and community building. This passion led her to explore various paths within alternative healing practices and embark on her own healing journey. While seeking ways to overcome personal challenges and break generational traumas, she noticed healing spaces often lacked representation. "When you don't have people you can relate to, you forget that healing and spirituality can look like you too." Lissette found herself grappling with the dualities of being a city girl and a spiritual healer. She was determined to reconcile the two and live her journey authentically.
Today, Lissette is a Certified Somatic Therapist and the founder of Breath And The City. Through this project, she aims to create a safe space for people to explore their healing journeys.
Somatic therapy is a holistic approach to psychotherapy that emphasizes the mind-body connection in understanding and addressing psychological and emotional issues. It recognizes that our physical sensations, emotions, and bodily experiences are interconnected and can be important sources of insight and healing.
Somatic therapy is based on the idea that emotional and psychological distress can manifest in the body as physical tension, discomfort, or pain, and that by addressing and releasing these bodily sensations, individuals can experience
emotional healing and well-being.
